LAUNCHING IN 2008

CONFEDERATION OF ENGLISH BUSINESS

A new force for English Business

Early next year the Confederation for English Business will be launching as the new institution to safeguard the interests of English Business.

It has become increasingly clear that as the process of devolution has taken hold, the British wide organisations previously representing “all” business in the UK are beginning to find conflicts within those they seek to represent.

The latest plans for Scottish Businesses to establish a corporate tax rate that is lower than in England is but one of the first salvos which auger badly for “all British” institutions, many of whom still believe that it is possible to represent and defend three different views within one organisation. Like the political parties, British institutions are beginning to realise that devolution has created a need to create institutions which represent the respective countries within the Union, and England is now taking the lead in providing her businesses with a voice of their own.

Over 99% of businesses in the UK are Small and Medium Sized enterprises. These businesses cannot benefit from the market power of large multinationals.

The Confederation of English business seeks to serve the majority of businesses in the UK, by offering Lobby facilities and policy making facilities as part of the emerging English national movement.

We have a fabulous opportunity to create a new organisation from scratch and we need experienced and interested business people to help shape the new body. The vision for the Confederation of English Business is to create an English focused business lobby, that can link with the English Democrats and the Centre for English Policy Studies (also to be launched next year) to develop modern business policies for the 21st Century, moving away from the tergid unimaginative institutions that currently monopolise business representation in England today, indeed many English businesses will find no mention of England, made in England or English produce and the English brand has been skilfully erased from the marketplace. This we must change and change fast!

The CEB will be well placed to join forces with the growing network of English organisations and the emerging English Lobby, which will demand from QUANGO’s and government, a fairer proportion of inward investment, local support and supportive legislation to allow English businesses to thrive. The CEB will invite membership from all business categories, combining one large powerful English business lobby, designed by English business for English business.

We invite business leaders, sponsors and patrons to contact us to become part of this exciting new venture. Contact us for more details.
